Caribbean Hindustani is a non-profit organization with the desire of uniting the Indian Diaspora, whose ancestors were indentured immigrants to the Caribbean. The descendants of those migrants share a common culture that they have preserved from generation to generation despite the hardships they encountered. Caribbean Hindustani is a platform to share and encourage this wonderful culture.

Below is a poem in Bhojupuri from the 15th Century by the renowned Kabir Das. “If we take the liberty to replace the word Hira (Diamond) with Caribbean Hindustani and specifically the situation in which this language now finds itself can be strikingly similar. I expressed that in the very language (Bhojpuri) to which Caribbean Hindustani stems from!” -R.M Marhé

तोर हीरा हेराइल बा किंचड़े में ।
कोई दूंदे पूरब, कोई दूंदे पच्छिम, कोई दूंदे पानी पथरे में ।
सुर, नर, मुनि, अवरुपीर अवलिया, सब मुलाल बाटें नखरे में ।।
दासकबीर ई हीरा के परखले,बांध लिहले जतन से अचरे में ।

Sur, nar, muni avaru pir auliya, sub bhulal baten nakhare men.

Translation:

Your diamond is lost in the mud.
One searches for it in the east, the other in the west, and another searches in water
and rocks.
Gods, people, yogis and imams are led astray by their vanity and ignorance.
Kabir Das has recognized the correct value of this Diamond and has carefully kept it
with him.
