Caribbean Hindustani is working on establishing locations in the Caribbean and beyond. Suriname is unique in that Caribbean Hindustani is the second most spoken language after Dutch. This variant of Caribbean Bhojpuri is called Sarnami and one may even hear a version of the national anthem sung in it. Having this in mind, Caribbean Hindustani named this branch in Suriname as  Sarnami Bol, meaning speak Sarnami.

 

Caribbean Hindustani’s Sarnami Bol branch is busy with translation work, as there are more able translators there. The translation efforts will adhere to formal equivalence philosophy; meaning, as close as possible to a word to word translation. Our team will try their best to produce translations that is close as possible to the original meaning.

 

There have been translations that followed a dynamic equivalence philosophy. However they were not well accepted by the people due to the lack of certain key words being mis-translated or not translated at all.  Caribbean Hindustani values producing translations that are accurate and that will be received by the masses.

 

We are working on many tasks but the most challenging works are the religious ones, especially  the Bhagavad Gita and New Testament. These pieces of religious literature are being translated from their respective original languages. The Bhagavad Gita from Sanskrit and the New Testament from Greek. There is a desire to translate the Koran; currently we are searching for someone with the appropriate qualifications.
