Orphan’s Education

Orphan’s Education

We are currently helping a 15-year-old boy from Suriname. He was recently kicked out of the Christian-run orphanage he was living at after denying a role in a Christmas nativity play due to his Hindu faith. The orphanage proceeded to dispose of some of his clothing and confiscated the phone that he himself worked for. He has since been taken in by a member of the Caribbean Hindustani foundation and is in need of some assistance to get back on track. Despite the many obstacles he faced, he has exceeded tremendously in his academics. He is a brilliant quadrilingual (English, Dutch, Sranan Tongo, and Hindustani) and has aspirations to become a doctor. He also wants to study the dying Indo-Caribbean musical form of taan singing. Due to his strong academic performance, there is a school willing to enroll him in advanced classes on track for early graduation. However, he would need a bicycle to get to the location in addition to supplies, books, and uniform. He also is in need of some furniture for his room, new clothing to replace what the orphanage threw away, a reliable phone, and one year’s worth of tuition. Please donate if you can and share the fund with others! This young boy will be a great asset to our community and culture one day, he just needs a chance and the ability to thrive in a safe environment. *His name is not being disclosed for privacy reasons.*
